The Story Behind Our Blankets

One of the most special tokens I received during my time of sorrow in the hospital was a handmade fleece blanket that I wrapped London in and held her in it for her last days alive.

I was then able to take that blanket home and sleep with it for many nights as it embraced her smell and brought me comfort in my grieving process.

The Story Behind Our Bags

In a time of panic, when time seems to stand still yet you know it can’t go fast enough, we choose to recklessly grab anything in sight and stuff them in our pocket, leaving behind the items we may actually need but seem so pointless in that second.

… We thought it would be nice to make up small bags for families that find themselves in a similar situation at the hospital while not wanting to leave their child’s side.

Your family’s kindness and generosity overwhelm me. Your visit today, the amazing fleece blankets and sumptuous meal, all lifted my spirit and reminded me of the best of humanity.

As you know, we often see very challenging situations and can be weighed down with the needs and cares we encounter here. For you to have lived through such terrible circumstances and respond with such grace is amazing — and heartening.

Though I with did not have the opportunity to meet London to get to know Amy, I can’t help but feel I was in their presence today, and that the seeds of goodness you planted in them are blossoming, perhaps even beyond what Amy imagined.

Thank you for London’s Legacy. We are very blessed by your friendship and witness.
